 Petra Kvitova werd op 8 maart 1990 in Bilovec in Tsjechië geboren. Vader Jiri Kvita introduceerde haar tot de tennissport. Tijdens haar jeugd keek ze op naar Martina Navratilova. Tot haar zestiende trainde ze in haar thuisbasis, daarna zocht ze andere oorden op om het professioneler aan te pakken.
